Sept 1st, 2006 - Hot Drum Has Shut Down....

Yes, you read that correctly.

After over 4 years of being on-line, we've decided to shut down.

When we took over HotDrum in July of 2002, we deliberately chose to make it a community in which all levels of knowledge, skills and experience as well as all ages, nationalites and genders were welcome. Everyone would be treated with dignity and respect as though they were an equal peer - something we had not seen anywhere else on the Internet before. We accomplished that goal for quite some time, despite many accusations of being "power freaks", having overly draconian rules, or that we just didn't "get" how the Internet worked.

Hence it is with a heavy heart and much deliberation that I type this - the offical "goodbye" letter.

We'd like to thank all who have participated over the years. We'd also like to make a very special thank you to all the people who have volunteered their time as Moderators, Administrators and those who have contributed content during this run - believe me when I say that it genuinely wouldn't have been possible without you.
